Consequences part 2

30 Apr

I’d like to add a little something that I forgot about. Ever since the beginning of the world, there has been temptation with food. Have you ever realized that Eve’s temptation was with food? Read Genesis 3. Eve gave into the temptation. She had a choice. Her choice has had long lasting consequences. So, like Eve, we can have consequences from the food and choices we choose. Eve chose what was bad. I’ve done the same thing. I’ve made some bad choices, and not only with food. It’s just a little added information from God’s word. Be careful of your choices and decisions. The choice you make today could have long lasting consequences.

Consequences

29 Apr

I’ve learned some things in the last week. There are consequences to everything I do. In the last week, I’ve learned that are even consequences with food. We can make good choices with food or we can make bad choices with food. We need to remember there are consequences to the bad choices we make with food. It may not happen today or tomorrow. Our bodies will eventually tell about the bad choices we make as far as food is concerned. We may gain weight, get diabetes, high cholesterol, and any other health related disease.

In the last week, I’ve learned that I’m diabetic. I also have problems with my cholesterol. The diabetes causes my trigylcerides to be too high. My good cholesterol is too low. The doctor said exercise would help it out. In fact, I need to exercise at least 30 minutes five times a week. My diet doesn’t need anything starchy, sweet, sugary, or fattening. I was told to eat fish, chicken, veggies, and fruit. No butter or any kind of oils. Grill, bake, or broil meats. Red meat only 3 times a month; not a biggie for me because I don’t eat a lot of beef anyway. The worst of all for this Louisiana girl-no shellfish. Shellfish is high in cholesterol.

I’m saying all of this to try to encourage all of you to change your eating habits today. Don’t wait for the doctor to tell you you’re diabetic or something else. I do have one advantage. You’re going to scratch your head when I say this. I’m overweight. My doctor said if I lose just 20 lbs it will help. Some people can’t lose weight because they don’t need to and they still have these health issues. Most of the time, these medical issues are related to weight.

So, I’d also like to ask for prayer. I really need the Lord’s help with all of this. Food has been like a “friend” to me. I enjoy food; especially sweets. I know I haven’t done the greatest with letting Jesus fill all of me. There have been times I’ve turned to food during a situation instead of turning to Jesus. I do want to give all of myself to Jesus. I want Jesus to have all of me. I want to love Jesus with all that I have. I’ve been praying for that. So, this is an answer to my prayer-just not the answer I wanted. I’m not going to lie.

I do thank the Lord there is medicine I can take. I thank Him that I can do something about this. I just need will power and motivation. I don’t have a lot of either right now. There again, I’m not going to lie. So, that’s my specific prayer request: will power and motivation. I know God will help me. For those of you that know me well, know my life verse is Philippians 4:13; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

As always, I pray this post will encourage someone else. I pray this will be used for the glory of God; not me. I just felt led to share these things that I write about. If any of you have a specific prayer need, just let me know. I’ll definitely pray for you also.
