“Just A Little Talk With Jesus”

Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT

Here awhile back I attended a women’s retreat. The speaker’s favorite song is “Just A Little Talk With Jesus.” I’ve had this song on my mind this afternoon. I remember singing this song in church when I was younger.

This is what Jesus wants us to do. He wants us to talk with Him. It doesn’t matter what’s going on or what’s bothering us Jesus wants to hear about it. Yes, He already knows what’s going on. There’s just something about talking it over with Jesus.

I think sometimes we tend to forget how simple prayer can be. We tend to be like the Pharisees and Sadducees; thinking we need to use big, elaborate words to pray. In truth, it’s the exact opposite. Jesus wants to hear what’s bothering us. He wants to hear what’s going on in our lives. It can be something as simple as, “Jesus, help me.” That can mean more than an hour on our knees. There are times we don’t have to say anything at all. When all we can do is kneel or sit and cry, Jesus knows. Sometimes our groanings are too deep for words. (Romans 8:26). Jesus can see right in our heart and life. He just wants to see if we’ll humble ourselves to Him in prayer; even if we don’t say a word.

The International Standard Version of the Bible says to actually throw all your worry on Him, because He cares for you. Just get rid of it. Think of throwing trash away. You get rid of things you no longer want or that aren’t any good. Worry is the same way. Throw it away; get rid of it. It can add anything to your life. (Matt. 6:34)

Are you struggling with something? Have a little talk with Jesus. Is someone fighting a disease? Have a little talk with Jesus. Are you and your husband having problems? Have a little talk with Jesus. Having problems with your children? Have a little talk with Jesus.

As the song states, “have a little talk with Jesus, tell Him ALL about your problems.” Even if you feel like Jesus isn’t there, I promise you He is there. Just call out to Him right now and tell Him what’s on your mind. He’s right there waiting. He will answer.

I’d also like to say if you have a specific prayer need don’t be afraid to share it. I’ll be glad to pray for you or with you. Jesus loves and cares for you. I do, too. You don’t have to leave a name; just leave your prayer request. God bless.
