My Food Addiction

Good afternoon. Yep, you read the title right. I have a food addiction. I’m not going to lie. I love food. I eat when I’m happy, when I’m sad, I eat to celebrate, eat when I’m depressed. My thing I like most to eat are sweets. I love me some Reese’s peanut butter cups;birthday cake & ice cream; anything chocolate.

I believe if more of us would tell the truth to ourselves; we’d realize a lot of us have some type of food addiction. We know we all have that spot that only God can fill. I think we believe since it’s food; it’s okay. It’s not like it’s drugs or alcohol. We probably don’t look as food as an addiction.

If we seriously look at our lives, I believe we’d see the truth. What do we really turn to in the midst of a bad day? What happens when it seems like the world is crashing down around us? What do we do in times of boredom? I’m sure it’s not praying, reading the word, studying God’s word, or making disciples. I know what I do; I eat. Sometimes I even use my cell phone as a way out not to deal with things. I’ll play games or get on Facebook.

Instead of me using that time more wisely, I’m wasting that time by not doing anything that will help me spiritually or physically. This morning I asked God to show me how to use my time more wisely. He answered that prayer quickly.

After all, our bodies are a temple of the Lord. We know what we are feeding ourselves spiritually. How are we treating our temples physically? I know I’m not treating mine too good. I think we all should take a step & examine our lives in the physical aspect.(1 Cor.6:20).
